THIS EVENT WILL BE GENERAL ADMISSION IN WRIGHT AUDITORIUM. The United States Marine Band, established by Congress in 1798, is the nation's oldest continuously active professional musical organization. Known as "The President's Own" a title given by Thomas Jefferson, its unique mission is to provide music for the President of the United States and the Commandant of the Marine Corps. The band has performed at the White House since 1801 and has appeared at nearly every presidential inauguration. Marine Band musicians perform at approximately 200 White House events each year, presenting a wide variety of music ranging from solo and chamber ensembles to jazz, country, dance, and full concert band performances. Members are highly trained professionals selected through competitive auditions and serve on permanent duty in the U.S. Marine Corps.
